Broke Bookings ("we", "us") runs brokebookings.com. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions: support@brokebookings.com.

What we collect

• Account details: name, username, email address and a securely hashed password, or your Google account email if you sign in with Google.
• Profile details you choose to add: photo, hometown, home airports, bio, favorite trips, bucket list, travel styles, languages and tips.
• Trips and price watches: destinations, dates and notes you add, and searches you save.
• Gmail data (only if you connect Gmail): we read emails from airlines and travel sites to find flight bookings: airports, dates, flight and confirmation numbers. For each booking we keep those trip details plus the email's subject line and date, never the full email. You can disconnect Gmail at any time from your profile.
• Posts: trip posts you publish, likes, saves and follows.
• Guest mode: data stays in your browser's local storage on your device and is not sent to us.

Google user data

Broke Bookings' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Gmail data only to import your trips into your account. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or let people read it.

How we use it

• To run your account, show your trips, map and price watches.
• To search fares and lodging for the trips you plan.
• To show your public profile and posts only if you turn on "Show me in Explore" or publish a public post.

• Netlify (hosting and data storage)
• Resend (sends sign up and password reset emails)
• Google (sign in and Gmail import)
• Travelpayouts / Aviasales (fare estimates)
• SerpApi (live prices from Google Flights and Google Hotels). Check fare links open Google Flights or Aviasales, and stay links open Google Hotels or the property's site.
• OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap (map images)
• Google Fonts (fonts)

Affiliate links

Some links, like Amazon links, are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Those sites may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

Cookies

We use a sign in cookie to keep you logged in, and a short lived one while you sign in with Google. We do not use advertising cookies on brokebookings.com.

Your choices

• Edit or delete your profile details any time.
• Disconnect Gmail from your profile.
• Delete your account from your profile. This permanently removes your profile, trips, posts, watches and Gmail connection.
• Email support@brokebookings.com for a copy of your data.

Security and retention

We keep your data while your account is open and delete it when you delete your account.

Children

Broke Bookings is not meant for anyone under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We will update this page and the date above if anything changes.
